I decided to introduce my Chinese students to the all American favorite holiday, the Halloween. I presented a PowerPoint on the origin of Halloween. Then we played a game where students had a 20-square game paper and went around asking others to sign their paper with the appropriate question/answer. This activity focused on the G'Me 5 ideas (read English, speak English, listen to English, write in English, and think in English) from Brother Don Bird.
After filling out all 20 squares, students came to me and asked "trick or treat" and got a piece of candy as a treat. I never saw anyone worked as hard. The students were looking for anyone who could drive, not from Jinan, had 20 yuan in their pocket, had a basketball on campus, had birthday in the summer, had a "real" sister or brother, snores at night, and such silly things. They even learned to line up to come "trick or treating". It was quite a learning experience for us all.
